Workshop in Celestial Mechanics in honor of Alain Albouy
Organizer(s) : Jacques FEJOZ (LTE)
Location : Observatoire de Paris, Site de Paris
Dates : 09 — 12 July 2025
The 3-day workshop will bring together some of the world’s leading specialists in mathematical aspects of celestial mechanics, with a regional preference for Germans and French for thematic and ecological reasons. We’ll be focusing on the most striking results concerning the N-body problem, central configurations and collisions.
Various recent advances will be highlighted, such as the demonstration of the existence of unstable solutions in the planetary problem, overturning the conclusion of Lagrange and Laplace’s famous first stability theorem of the semi-major axes; or the better apprehension of collision solutions in the N-body problem, following the demonstration of the nullity of their measure and the discovery of new compactifications for their differential analysis; or advances concerning the existence of periodic orbits in non-perturbative regimes, thanks to arguments from symplectic topology.
